LAST DAYS: The Final Artworks of Rah Crawford

September 02
19:45 2021

Visual artist Rah Crawford will officially retire his name as a fine artist. The final artworks of his career will be revealed overtime during his LAST DAYS series, which concludes on December 11, 2021. The artwork will be made available as NFTs or digital collectibles exclusively on the SuperRare platform. While emerging artists are using blockchain technology to launch their careers, Rah Crawford will use the technology to bring closure to his twenty-plus-years as an exhibiting fine artist.

“My journey as an artist was extremely personal and intense behind the scenes. I was absorbed in an introspective quest that isolated me emotionally. I went through 2 divorces, fathered 3 children, and lived on a razor’s edge trying to hold it all together. I’ve changed so much since those early years. Now, I need creative and personal closure from that period of my life. A new way—and a new day lies ahead.”

Rah’s skill as a professional artist and painter was developed over two decades, as he studied and taught himself how to master acrylics and oils on canvas. Rah’s work has been exhibited in over 36 exhibitions in major cities such as Philadelphia, New York, DC, Amsterdam, and London. His 100-page book ‘Welcome to Earth’, documents his 4 part exhibition that spanned over ten years and introduced the art world to his unique approach. In Act 2: Deus Ex Machina, Rah destroyed several of his finest paintings. In Act 3: Loovorfook, red-lit models intimately engaged each other in the gallery windows as onlookers flooded the streets to observe. Rah’s painting ‘Modern Mona’ was auctioned through a fundraiser for the Young Benefactors of the Smithsonian Museum, while the shoes he wore while creating are part of the permanent collection at the S.O.N.S. Museum in Belgium. Over the years, The New York Times has described Rah’s work as “Buoyant”, “Exuberant” and “Optimistic”.

From 1998 to 2021 Rah Crawford has introduced a new approach to art that he calls NPIC-Art (Neoteric Pop-Iconic Clairvoyance) that utilizes the definition of words to add a new contextual layer of meaning to an image. NEO NOW, a short film that documented Rah’s most recent creative period inspired by digital art, was screened at the Bushwick Film Festival in 2018. The documentary introduced NFTs and blockchain technology during its early days and featured the CEO and founder of the crypto art platform SuperRare which debuted Rah’s first digital artworks.

“I’ve said all that I have to say at this stage of my life as a fine artist and painter for twenty-plus years. My mission was to find my creative voice, introduce a new approach to art, and achieve mastery of my skills—and I’ve done that.”

Rah Crawford will continue his work as a creative pioneer and founder of World Owned, a multidimensional creative agency that consults, develops, and designs content for the arts, entertainment and tech industries.
