Polaroid Enters Agreement With Good Doctors, USA To Manufacture Polaroid Dental Equipment For Polaroid Healthcare
Polaroid has entered into an exclusive licensee agreement with Good Doctors, USA (GDUSA) for caries and oral disease detection devices as well as X-ray and other dental diagnostic equipment to be distributed under the name Polaroid HealthCare. These products will be distributed through the dental and veterinary dealer distribution networks.

Encino, CA – October 12, 2020 – Polaroid today announced it has entered into an exclusive licensee agreement with Good Doctors, USA (GDUSA) for caries and oral disease detection devices as well as other dental equipment to be distributed under the name Polaroid HealthCare. The dental devices are now available globally through GDUSA, an industry leading manufacturer, producing some of the world’s most advanced dental intraoral cameras, curing lights and other innovative dental equipment. They are also a wholesale distributor of high-tech devices, software, and IT services.

“We are thrilled to partner with Polaroid to bring the latest and most innovative dental products to the market globally,” said Jesse Pulido, General Manager of Good Doctors, USA. “It’s important now, more than ever, that we provide the highest quality products within the healthcare industry. The health and safety of patients and doctors is of the utmost priority, and Polaroid products are created with that in mind.”

Polaroid HealthCare will market the innovative imaging and time saving products to the dental and veterinary markets and will be distributing its products through the dental dealer distribution network. It will be supporting the dealers and their professional dental and veterinary customers with a team of experienced manufacturer representatives who can demonstrate products, train staff, and provide local on-site support as needed. Polaroid dental products currently available in the U.S. market include:

The new, FDA approved Polaroid combination caries detector/ IO camera features a proprietary combination of 30 LED’s which identifies harmful bacteria build up that causes dental disease and cavities by capturing images in natural white light, infra-red trans-illumination, and in fluorescence colors, all with one press of the capture button – a feature current products on the market could not replicate or would require the inconvenience of changing multiple parts. Shaped like a high-speed dental drill, this unit features the first 5MP intraoral dental camera, with liquid lens optics, 1920 x 1080 resolution, and a built-in gyro air mouse to control imaging software from the wand and reduce the chances of cross-contamination. The device will help dentists reduce time and motion to increase production and to better diagnose decayed areas and even help reduce the amount of tooth structure that needs to be removed by distinguishing between healthy and decayed areas, saving as much healthy tissue as possible during procedures.

Another recent product, the Polaroid aerosol suction device, catches most of the mixed air, blood, debris, and water spray that gets thrown into a room during many dental procedures. The availability of this device is just in time for dental offices upgrading their office infection control protocols due to COVID-19. The mobile unit suctions out the air and mist around the patient’s head and prevents it from contaminating the air or surfaces around the room. It then purifies the air by running it through a series of filters, along with a HEPA-14 filter, then zaps it with a UV-C light. The resulting air flow out of the unit is 99.95 free of viruses, bacteria, and other airborne contaminants. These devices will be mainstay products in the modern dental clinic.

About Polaroid:

Polaroid was founded by Edwin Land in 1937 as an icon of innovation and engineering. The company first produced ski goggles and 3D glasses for the US Army and Navy. It wasn’t until 1943 when Land’s daughter asked why she couldn’t see a photograph of herself immediately that the idea for the instant camera was born. In 1947 it became a reality with the first ever instant camera.

It was the introduction of the breakthrough Polaroid SX-70 camera in 1972 that launched instant photography as we know it today, followed by landmark innovations such as the original OneStep, instant color film; and the Polaroid 600 and Spectra cameras and film formats.

Polaroid cameras went on to inspire artists such as Andy Warhol, Helmut Newton, Robert Mapplethorpe, Maripol, Keith Haring, and Guy Bourdin who raised the brand to the status of a cultural icon.

In the 1990s and 2000s, the swift rise of digital technology eclipsed instant photography and Polaroid announced the end of instant film production in 2008. But that was short-lived; a dedicated group of instant photography fans under the name ‘The Impossible Project’ saved the last Polaroid factory in the Netherlands. Since then, they have been the only people in the world making film for vintage Polaroid cameras.

In 2017, The Impossible Project re-launched as Polaroid Originals: a brand dedicated exclusively to Polaroid’s original analog instant photography products. Bringing analog instant photography back under the Polaroid umbrella was a significant milestone, but it was not the end of the journey. In March 2020, Polaroid took the next step and became one brand, with the one name: Polaroid.

Today, Polaroid has analog instant photography at its core and represents the brand that people all over the world came to know and love over the past 82 years. By unifying its entire product portfolio under one name, Polaroid is setting out its new vision to be one cohesive global brand that will continue to create products that bring people together in human and meaningful ways.
