Michael Dotson, popularly known as Mikarlo is an LGBTQ Pop vocalist and songwriter based in Los Angeles, CA. A passionate artist, who started writing songs since the age of 12, Mikarlo is known for his mesmerizing voice and captivating lyrics that strike just the right chords of the heart. His songs are filled with emotions, oozing subtle romanticism, depicting stories of love, loss, and heartbreak in a way that everyone can relate to. Mikarlo’s latest single “You and I” is another great song that talks about the feelings of love, heartbreak, the overwhelming emotions thereafter and eventually letting go for good. With this song, Mikarlo strives to give an enigmatic experience to anyone who has felt pain love, faced all kinds of emotions and eventually learned to cope up with it.

Mikarlo started loving music at a young age and he would sing alone in his room, write random lyrics, compose music and put on a show in front of an imaginary audience. He was highly inspired by artists like Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Skylar Grey, Mariah Carey, and others. He left his hometown Fresno, California to move to LA at the age of 17, and pursue his passion for music.

After the initial struggle and being halted by people, he decided to produce music on his own and recorded a song about the worst heartbreak he has experienced. “I didn’t tell anyone that I was recording it, because I had so many people telling me that I couldn’t be a singer but I put out my first song and boom. Here I am. Still writing songs, performing, and growing as an artist!” states Mikarlo.

Talking about his music, he further adds, “My music is mostly about healing. I’ve been through a lot of pain and I’m still going through it. If I could describe my music to someone, I’d say imagine a broken heart venting to you about what caused it to break, how it’s currently doing, how it’s healing, how it doesn’t feel fully recovered yet its standing tall. I am that broken heart.”

Listen to his latest single “You and I” and other songs on Spotify and Apple Music.
